FAQs

The PFAS cycle refers to the environmental and chemical cycle involving per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from manufacturing to health impacts to remediation. Existing challenges to solve the PFAS problem are many, including costs, energy, sustainability, and the complexity and limitations involving prevalent methods.

The PFAS cycle highlights the challenges of dealing with these chemicals due to their environmental persistence and potential health impacts.

Invicta Water’s treatment solutions end the PFAS cycle by breaking the strong bonds that create these chemicals in situ. We do so in a low cost, low energy process that destroys the compounds in a continuous flow at ambient pressure and temperature. Our solution can end the PFAS cycle for long and short chain PFAS, in any concentration, and at any water volume.
The first part of the system removes the contaminants (PFAS compounds). Invicta Water’s patent pending process utilizes Foam Fractionation technologies to find and efficiently remove the contaminants from a continuous flow of water. Once the PFAS compounds are removed they are processed through our proprietary Photocatalytic Destruction process that uses cutting-edge materials technology combined with UV light to destroy PFAS in-situ. This is a complete and total destruction, and there are no toxic or harmful byproducts.

Influent (water) is processed through Invicta Water’s (patent pending) Foam Fractionation System where small bubbles grab pollutants. Typically, the type of organic contaminants that we deal with have a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic end. The hydrophobic end of the contaminant sticks to the air bubble. Foam is created containing the contaminants, and is floated to the upper level of the fractionators. Contaminants are now separated from the clean water flow.

Once the contaminates are removed, they progress to the Destruction phase of the system. The destruction occurs via a Photocatalytic Destruction process that uses cutting-edge materials technology combined with UV light to destroy PFAS in-situ.
GAC is a common method being used for PFAS treatment but comes with expensive complications:
  • GAC only removes PFAS from water supplies. Once contaminated with PFAS, GAC becomes a new toxic waste stream that must be properly disposed of,
  • GAC systems require a large capital investment,
  • GAC systems utilize a large amount of real estate, and
  • GAC systems incur high annual operating expenses.
The Invicta Water system is a process that completely destroys PFAS in situ and does not produce any toxic waste requiring remediation.

Additionally, the Invicta Water process is considerably less expensive to install and operate.

Invicta Water is the sustainable and cost-efficient choice to end PFAS for any water system. Our solution provides substantial cost, energy, real estate, and environmentally friendly advantages over GAC or other prevalent PFAS treatment methods.

The modular Invicta Water system is designed for rapid installation and operation. Typically, installations begin in weeks.
  • Municipal wastewater and drinking water systems of all sizes.
  • Industrial water processes include treating incoming water supplies to ensure contaminant free processes and industrial waste water.
  • Public and private landfills.
  • Military organizations
  • Commercial real estate developers
The Invicta Water system can be optimized to remove a host of different contaminants, and it is not limited to PFAS compounds. Please contact Invicta Water if you have a specific contaminant challenge.

We send samples to certified laboratories that utilize ASTM 1633 and ASTM D8421/EPA8327 to validate results and ensure that the testing is reliable and meets established standards.

Case Studies

Raw Processed

PFAS Destruction in Drinking Water

Invicta Water sourced water directly from the tap in Burlington, North Carolina. The water is found to be contaminated with ~30 ppt total PFAS, including 10-14 ppt PFOA and PFOS, the EPA’s two recently designated hazardous substances.

Key Results

PFAS Destruction on Industrial Site

Invicta Water was provided sample of the process water from a Pulp and Paper Mill in the tissue market. As with other current industrial projects, Invicta Water received and treated the water without knowledge of PFAS types or ability to optimize the removal or destruction process.

PFAS Destruction at Manufacturer

10 million gallons of highly contaminated water located in retention ponds. State regulatory agency mandated complete PFAS remediation as required first step to development approvals.
